Oh How Pinteresting & Recent Addictions

Let's take a side trip for a moment and talk about the little things that have recently taken over my life besides Pinterest:

Draw Something - This game is so fun and it has me cracking up every time I play. It's a cross between MS Paint and Hangman. I love guessing what my friends are drawing and I am terrible so I know my drawings are sending out some laughs too. If you have never played, I highly recommend downloading it and then adding me (lroberts726) as a friend, because I'm pretty awesome at drawing stick figures.

My drawing will look something like this:

but I think they look like this:

Avocados - They're green, squishy, and melt in your mouth delicious. I have become obsessed with them and I try to incorporate them into every meal. So great!

Grey nail polish - Neutral, easy, goes with everything. It's been my go to color for the past few weeks and I think it is a great transition from Winter to Spring.

Now back to the regularly scheduled Oh, How Pinteresting! I have some funny random pins from the past week:

True Story!

Oh Hunger Games, Oh Ryan Gosling, Oh Hey Girl websites.

This invitation to a party I wasn't invited to is adorable. I might have to have my own book exchange extravaganza!

This quote makes my life complete.

Have a fabulous week!

Weekend Recap

This weekend was a normal, run-of-the-mill weekend. I love these weekends :)

First up, Thursday night I went to the midnight showing of The Hunger Games. I loved it. Some people didn't, but I say it was a great interpretation of a fabulous book. The movie is never as good. I hung out with some good friends, ate popcorn, and got too few hours of sleep.

On Friday, I chillaxed. (official term) I caught up on the television I missed all week, like Pretty Little Liars (really intrigued by this show right now), Ringer (also digging the storyline in this show), & One Tree Hill (I cried this week, but I am ready for the final two episodes. It's been a few years too many.).  I also watched The Amazing Race (it's amazing), Two Broke Girls (I laughed, I cried, I got jealous of the Murphy bed and the space it gives them when they close it) & Shameless (it's at the top of my favorites list.)

On Saturday, I took most of the day easy and then I went out to a small bar in Brooklyn for a friend's birthday. We had a decent group of friends and it was nice to catch up with everyone. I was 1/2 of a winning fooseball team and the bartender learned my name and drink after 1 round, so it was fantastic. I may have gotten into an argument with a guy over who the better quarterback is: Tebow vs. Roethlisberger. I always vote for morals over what they can do on the field; he didn't agree. It was a fun night that ended with a funny subway story.

Sunday was a day for cleaning (after my roommates cat knocked over an entire bottle of alcohol), laundry (it is my new Sunday chore), and baking (I made cakepops!). Then I went to a friend's house and attended a super awesome Mad Men Premiere party. They won a contest through AMC and had all kinds of Mad Men themed party decorations and favors. We played pin the cigarette and gin on the cast. (I lost :( ) We drank, we ate, and we watched the premiere. It was a great way to spend Sunday night.

At last, we have come around to Monday and right now I am probably sitting at work reminiscing about my weekend and planning for the weekend ahead. Enjoy the day because it only happens once!

Open letter

Dear 2:00am Saturday night female subway riders,

I'm really glad that you had a blast during your eventful Saturday night. I can tell by the way your hair is tangled and the makeup around your eyes is running that heavy dancing most likely occurred and it caused you to sweat like the fat kid playing baseball over the Summer. I really wish you could see yourself right now because I'm pretty sure that you didn't want to leave your apartment looking like such a hot mess.

First, when going out partying in crazy, awesome, glitter covered high heels - think about the end of the night. You know you will never make it home again in those shoes because of the alcohol and the fact that your toes can only take so much torture. I always recommend bringing a pair of flats or flip flops because who wants to be barefoot on the subway? No one, not even homeless Joe walks around barefoot. I really hope you sanitized those feet before getting into your bed.

Secondly, before you drink yourself into a stuper, try and figure out how you are planning to get home. If the plan involves subways, I suggest knowing which subway line you are closest to and how to get home from there. It is really annoying to watch you and your friends try to read a subway map when the train is moving and you keep stumbling around. It is also annoying to watch you all exit the train car at every station and then re enter yelling and discussing where the best place to transfer is. Get your act together.

Thirdly, I would highly suggest that drinking not occur on the train. It's illegal. I'm not sure who you thought you were fooling by concealing it in a black plastic bag, but every time you chose to take a sip of your black plastic bag, you gave yourself away. I think it's pretty intense to drink straight from the bottle, but I think it's more intense to do so in a public place. Lush.

Now that I have shared my awesome opinions with you, let me explain myself. I too had a good Saturday night. I went out, I drank, and I had to get home. I changed shoes from heels to flats so that the stairs and sidewalks did not meet my face and I made my way to the train. My friends and I got a seat, we chatted (not yelled and danced in the subway car), and then after an hour or so I got home. Unfortunately for a good portion of the ride your group chose to enter our subway car. You were loud, I was a little tipsy. You looked a hot mess, I was still a little tipsy. You annoyed me, and I get annoyed easily when I've been drinking.

Basically, you should have taken a cab and I think all of us would have had a better end to our evening.

Sincerely,

A now very sober and not as annoyed Laura

It's OK Thursdays!

It's OK...

to spend more than normal amounts of time doing super touristy sightseeing things when friends come to town!

to also breathe a sigh of relief when life can get back to normal.

that I saw the first sign of Spring today: flowering trees!

that I have realized that a pedicure must be scheduled soon so that I can wear my Summer sandals :)

that I received numerous facebook messages, texts, and even phone calls about Tebow being traded to the Jets. Yeah, I'm OK with that.

to love vanilla ice cream with rainbow sprinkles....hands down the best combination for this time of year.

to feel really proud that a team I was on actually won at trivia this week! Beer for free next week!

that I am going to the midnight showing of The Hunger games tonight, when I have to work at 8:30am tomorrow. I can sleep in my next life.

to be excited about the trip(s) I have planned for April! Florida and DC! I will get to see all of my friends in a matter of weeks!

that I have changed my nail polish three times this week...the colors just haven't been right for the weather outside.

to be on the fence about 76 degree weather today.

to be worried about taking 70 something 5th graders to a field trip at a theater in Times Square this morning. It sort of screams disaster.

to be thrilled it's Thursday :)

Have a fantastic day!
