It's OK....

to feel unmotivated to do anything today because I don't have to.

that cooking with avacados is the only real thing I plan to accomplish.

that my cat is lonely now that she is the only cat in the household.

to wear the same flip flops each and every day and get a flip flop tan.

to cry when said flip flops break and now you have crazy flip flop tan.

to decide that I don't need an AC again this year. It's already August and I made it this far.

to already be excited for my next house guest when my friend who visited this week only left this morning.

to wonder if my family is ever coming to see me in NYC again.

that my trivia team won last night thanks to my incredible guessing skills about Pixar film characters. (It has nothing to do with the other five categories that my team carried the weight on. I kid.)

that last night I asked the bartender if one of the three TVs could possibly change to the Olympics because you know it's only the US team vs. the US team for the Gold in Beach Volleyball. No big. (yes I know the Mets and the Yankees were playing, because they play almost every freaking night)

to eat coconut pineapple ice cream solely because it tastes like a pina colada but it has way less alcohol. like way less.

to wonder of the Spice Girls could really make a comeback. I know I'll be watching the closing ceremonies and singing along karaoke style.

to love the new crunch bars that taste like girl scout cookies, those things are delicious.

to hate the smell of NYC in the Summer. It's a mixture of pooling water mixed with hot trash slightly elevated by BO with no breeze.

don't get me started with the subway platforms this time of year. That's never OK.

It's OK Thursday - Birthday Edition

It's OK Thursday is one of my favorite link-ups but I have been slacking lately. I'm back today and it's special because today I turn 25!


It's OK...

to want to tell everyone it's your birthday. It's the one day that is all about you and I want to feel special.

that I painted my nails with glitter just for this week.

to still not know what day it is after Firefly. (except I now know it's Thursday or this link-up wouldn't be right.)

to love my new neighborhood and finally be almost settled.

that I still have no idea what I'm doing about a job next school year. Let's hope it works out.

to wear flip flops everyday during the Summer. (except I have a flip-flop tan.)

to have the urge to bake cookies, frost cakes and blow out candles.

to want someone to go to the laundromat for me.

that turkey burgers from Trader Joe's are my current favorite go-to meal.

to not understand why some friends choose to act the way they do. It's life and sometimes it's not meant to last.

that my birthday party is not scheduled until August 10th because I was too busy the next two weekends.

to be happy that I got a Thursday post written in time for the link-up.


that even though I was in the city last year for my birthday, this feels like the first birthday in the city because I actually know people.

that tomorrow is Friday.

to be so excited to move yet so unmotivated to pack.

to wonder how long it will take to cover the dark hunter green walls in my new apartment with a lovely teal.

to already miss my 5th graders who graduated this week.

that I really really want a piece of cake, but don't want to bake a whole cake.

to have such exciting Summer plans, but also feel like there isn't enough happening.

to wear as little as possible without being un-classy because it's hot.

to be sad that my sister will be in DC for like 8 days next week but since I'm moving I can't go and visit.

that I don't even have 1 day off between my school year job and my summer job.

to sometimes go to bed before 11.

to make fun of people who wear boots during the summer. I don't get it.

that ice cream becomes my even more favoritest food during the upcoming three months.

to really enjoy the primer from Sephora but refuse to spend $40 on something that goes underneath two layers of other makeup.

that I didn't read the book for my book club this month. I probably never will.

to be thrilled that I have this random Thursday off of work.

that I have nothing planned for today.

to love the weather that is happening in the city!

that I went to a concert and haven't mentioned it yet. (I will!)

to be jealous of all my Florida friends who have finished their school year!

to love my cat even if she makes it 1000x harder to find an apartment. 

that I am confused about why people won't rent apartments to people with pets. Not everyone is a crazy pet owner.

to have ridiculously bright nail polish on.

to have 9 different half posts written, but no energy to make them complete.

to have already started on my June bucket list, even if I haven't shared it with you. It will happen, maybe tonight.

to have a love/hate relationship with my new contacts.

to love vanilla ice cream. with rainbow sprinkles.

to be excited about how close Summer vacation is.

to cross my fingers and say a few hopeful words that I start to get some interviews for a full time job next year.

to be really really excited about a dinner party I'm hosting next weekend.

to also be really thrilled about the GoogaMooga festival that I am going to this weekend.

to not understand the way ten year olds think. No, you may not ask to go to the bathroom during my instructions about the science lab. Yes, my eyes have always been blue green, the contacts don't make them that color.  No, you may not copy exactly what is written on the back of the book. Yes, Florida has trees and beaches but is that what we are talking about right now? No, you may not call me by my first name.

to kinda like the Bieber song, Boyfriend. Shame.

to take a taxi when it's raining and you don't feel like walking.

to love that I found a matte top coat nail polish today that isn't Essie brand! Score 1 for Laura.

to actually like the photo on my new drivers license!
