Holiday Blog Challenge! Day 6

Here we go, week number two of the Holiday Blog Challenge! In case you missed last week's topics check out my posts: Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4, Day 5
Today's topic is holiday treats and desserts. This is a topic I am fairly skilled in, my absolutely favorite dessert for 11 months out of the year is ice cream, but come December this girl is all about Christmas cookies!

Christmas cookies have been a tradition for my family for many years and since about the age of 12, I have always had a major hand in the cookie decision making process and baking. After perusing cookbooks and websites, I would always decide on way too many different types of cookies to make and then my sister and I would spend a whole day making a giant mess out of the kitchen. This resulted in flour caked to the rugs and a few dozen to many cookies for the holiday festivities.

My favorite cookies for holidays:

Plain and simple sugar cookies with sprinkles - The simplicity, the tradition, the cute shapes you can cut them in. I will take a sugar cookie in any form unless it had frosting, then I'm out. They become too much sugar and not enough cookie.

Snickerdoodles - I guess I am a sugar cookie kind of girl because snickerdoodles are glorified sugar cookies with cinnamon, but they are like magic.

My sister's favorite cookie:

White chocolate chip macadamia nut cookies - She likes her some white chocolate chips. She likes her some macadamia nuts. She prefers them both to be mixed with delicious cookie dough and baked for 20 minutes.

My Mom's favorite cookie:

Apple Spice Cookie - This cookie is old school; like the cook book it comes in was published in the 70's. The cookie has fresh apples, apple sauce, cinnamon, nutmeg-- pretty much anything you would find in an apple pie. It is chewy and brown, and looks questionable, but it tastes yummy!

Now excuse me while I go and drink a glass of ice cold milk and cry about the fact that I don't have all of the ingredients to make any of the above mentioned cookies.

  4. Maybe I should try an apple cookie with white chocolate chips? It would either be a complete genius move or a complete waste of white chocolate chips and apples.
